Policy Studies Institute (PSI) is a policy think tank established in November 2018 by the Ethiopian government. It was founded by merging two state-owned think tanks in Ethiopia, Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI) and Policy Study and Research Centre (PSRC), whose establishment date back to 1999 and 2014 respectively.PSI is engaged in:
Economic, social and governance research and policy studies;
Bridging research and policymaking;
Capacity building and consultancy; and
Knowledge dissemination and exchange.
Meet PSI, Chief Executive Director
H.E Mekuria Haile, Ph.D. was appointed by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Ph.D., as Chief Executive Director of Ethiopian Policy Studies Institute on 6 October 2020. H.E Mekuria Haile, Ph.D. served as a Minister, for Ministry of Urban Development, Housing and Construction of Ethiopia and he has been a member of the Ethiopian House of People’s Representatives.
Mekuria, has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Addis Ababa University (AAU) and has obtained his Master’s degrees in International Business Management and Business Administration from Universities in Ireland and England respectively. His first post in the public sector was the Trade, Industry and Urban Development Bureau of the Southern Region and cabinet member of Southern Regional State. He then moved to Ethiopia Capital City, Addis Ababa chief Executive officer of the Municipality services.
He has received Degree of Doctor of Information and Telecommunication Technology Management from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), South Korea University on 2020.
Mekuria, Ph.D. has been in different Public office from 1992, he is posted as Chief Executive Director of Policy Studies Institute, a government policy research think tank.
