The staff of the Policy Studies Institute(PSI) discussed the various features of the Institute's redesigned website on December 29, 2022. The designer of the website, Mr. Dagmawi Atinafu, presented how the new PSI’s website was designed. He also demonstrated the functionality and how to use the various interfaces of the website.
In his presentation of the new design, Dagmawi said those website menus are an essential part of any website. Good menus make it easier for users to navigate the site and can also influence how long a user stays on the site. He added that it is therefore important to design the website menu properly to ensure that the user has a positive experience while navigating the website. Accordingly, he said, he tried to make the new PSI website clear. Good website menus should be clear and easy to understand. The font, size, color, and placement of text should be carefully chosen so that users can find what they are looking for quickly and efficiently. The new website, he added, provides clear labels and categories; users can easily find the page they want without spending time trying to figure out where to go.
Dagmawi also explained that the new website is designed to be responsive. Good website menus should be responsive, meaning they should adapt to different screen sizes and resolutions. Making sure the menu is responsive will not leave users frustrated or confused because it is not compatible with their devices. This also helps create a consistent user experience across all devices. He noted that the new website is easy to use. He said that the menus are logically laid out and easy for users to understand. He also explained that the menus on the new website automatically adjust to the user's device to ensure clean and smooth navigation. This also helps ensure that the navigation experience is consistent regardless of the size of the device being used.
Dagmawi also said that the new site's menus are accessible to all users. This means that the menu should also be suitable for users with certain disabilities, such as low vision. By making sure the menu is easy to read, with high-contrast colors and large font sizes, it can be made accessible to all users. He also said that the website's new menus can be customized by users. Overall, Dagmawi presented to staff that the website's new menus were designed with users in mind to provide them with a positive experience when using the website. Efforts were also made to ensure clarity, responsiveness, usability, scalability, accessibility, customizability, and optimization for higher user satisfaction and an overall better website experience.
Following the presentation, the staff asked various questions, made comments, and expressed appreciation for the redesigned website. The staff said that the redesigned website should have more hyperlinks and that the font size and color should be revised again. They also said that the classification of some menus should be written in accordance with the name of the organization's newly approved organogram. They also reminded the audience that the website needs to be properly managed and also reflect the PSI brand. They also recommended that some of the logos of previous partners be removed from the website. Some of the attendees also addressed the security issues of the website. Some attendees also pointed out that the images on the website should be of high quality and clearly related to the content. They should be properly optimized and scaled down to reduce loading times. Overall, they also appreciated that the new website is easy to navigate and that they can find the information they need quickly and easily.
Finally, Mr. Dagmawi answered all the questions, comments, and reviews about the redesigned website and promised to correct some of the comments to improve the website.
